Community Schools
United Way of Greater Knoxville's Community Schools support 6,240 students and their families alongside partners, donors, volunteers, and friends. Together, we create opportunities for children to succeed, families to access support, and neighborhoods to connect.
Community Schools maximizes its impact by operating in 16 schools located strategically in underserved areas of Knox County, uplifting families who need it most. Each school has a dedicated coordinator, focused on filling the unique and pressing needs of that specific school and community.
Your support fuels our work. It enables us to provide meals for families, enrichment opportunities for children, support for educators, engaging events for communities, and more.
Our Community Schools work focuses on four crucial pillars to create holistic support for students, educators, caregivers, families, and communities - shared collaborative leadership and practice, active family and community engagement, enhanced learning opportunities, and integrated systems of support.
If you're interested in connecting with Community Schools, please call Lonsdale Elementary and ask to speak with our Community Schools Site Coordinator.
